The Apollo Foundation, Inc. is
a nonprofit, tax exempt
organization designed to assist students enrolled at North Carolina State
University in completing their educational programs. Scholarships and grants
shall be given based on either need or merit, to be determined by the Board
of Directors. Such scholarships and grants may be on a multi-semester basis
or a one-time benefit based on availability of funds The money shall enable
a student to assistance in tuition, housing, books or supplies. It is not
anticipated that funds will provide a majority of these essential costs but
that such funds will act as a needed supplement. It is also planned that
small grants to a larger student population would further the broad-based
assistance aspect of the program.
Initiation of the scholarship
and grant program will be by March 1, 2001 for possible grants
beginning the Fall Semester, 2001. Any activity will be based on the
availability of funds.
The scholarship benefit shall
be publicized with a listing with the NCSU Finance department as an
available scholarship. Any application must meet the requirements of Federal
and State Law and be acceptable to the North Carolina State University
Finance office as information that is available to be received and
considered from students registered with the University.
The Board of Directors shall
determine the recipients of the scholarships and grants. They will meet as
often as needed to screen applicants and conduct interviews. Scholarships
are restricted to students of North Carolina State University. There are no
restrictions on race or employment status of the applicant or any relative
of he applicant. However, relatives of the selection committee are not
eligible recipients for the foundation funds.
The Board of Directors shall
meet to screen the available number of applications. Recipients will be
required to submit grade transcripts to the Board of Directors as well as
tax returns (for need based benefits). Thereafter, interviews with the
applicants considered most promising will be made with the Board of
Directors of their designates. Consideration shall be given as to need on a
multi-semester basis or as to a specific one-time gift for particular
achievement.
The Foundation's main sources
of financial support shall be private individual donations and corporate
donations. Donations are tax deductible.
